Maximum Accuracy. Longest Range. Highest Resolution. When your application requires our class-leading 3D motion measurement precision in a very large volume nothing compares with the accuracy and durability of the Primex 120.

Long Range Performance. The Primex 120 and Primex 120W cameras offer OptiTrack's longest camera-to-marker range for Passive and Active markers. OptiTrack accuracy with more range enables huge tracking volumes for a wider variety of training and simulation scenarios, extreme ground or aerial robotic facilities, larger cinematic virtual production studios and more.

Our highest-resolution cameras enable users to track smaller markers that are both closer to each other, and farther away from the cameras.
Bare Active marker tracking captured at night at 100 (Image1), 200 (Image2) and 300 feet (Image3)

Primex equals precision. Primex cameras are designed and manufactured in-house at OptiTrack’s headquarters in Oregon to ensure our exacting quality standards are met. We design lenses with low-distortion and true 10-bit grayscale depth sensor processing which reduces noise and improves precision—resulting in perfectly crisp images, better centroids and better 3D accuracy.

“Fast glass” lens. We custom design our own super low distortion, “fast glass” lenses for optimal marker tracking. The Primex 120’s standard 18mm lens is treated with a wide band anti-reflective coating, which dramatically increases light transmission to the imager, yielding larger volumes and more precise 3D data.
Choose the wider-view option. The standard Primex 120 offers a broad 51° x 39° Field of View (FOV). For wider volumes that demand elite accuracy, the Primex 120W is available with a 65° x 51° 18mm wide-view lens. The additional FOV lets users deploy fewer cameras to capture movement in wider areas.

Tracks Passive and Active Markers with positional errors less than +/-0.10mm and rotational errors less than 0.1 degrees.
Passive markers - or retroreflective markers, including spheres, hemispheres, and even flat reflective discs, are easy for PrimeX cameras to identify and track.
Active markers invisible infrared LEDs send unique pulses for error free marker IDs with low latency data delivery and 10ms acquisition time.
Active markers are the benchmark for low latency Virtual or Mixed Reality tracking, ground truth systems for Augmented Reality, and high subject count robotics applications such as drone swarms.

Mix and match cameras. Systems can pair Primex 120 cameras with any other Primex or Prime Color cameras to create the optimal infrared configuration for any use case and deliver the highest 3D tracking accuracy to any environment.

On-camera status indicator. Primex cameras can keep users informed with definable color LED indicator rings surrounding the lens. Recording a performance? Everyone on set knows the system is recording. Select a camera? It instantly changes color. Have your own idea? Simple software controls help you make it so.
New, higher output strobe. Ultra high power LEDs provide improved range for any given shutter setting. The world's longest range motion capture camera just got even better. Motion capture suit stretch

Full resolution grayscale reference video. All Primex cameras can be used as a reference video source - with synchronized, calibrated 3D overlay. Deliver and/or record full resolution, full frame rate video with 3D overlay of markers, rigid bodies, skeletons, etc.

External sync in/out, Genlock, and Time Code. Synchronize any Prime and Primex cameras to any signal or source with the eSync 2 with all the functionality and flexibility you’d expect with a professional tracking system. Cameras sync to dozens of sources including a professional cameras’ Genlock signal, where record and other event triggering can be managed from general purpose inputs and software commands.
Use the sync output signal as a master or to trigger force plates, EMGs and National Instrument DAQs for flexible yet precise hardware synchronization. Highly accurate frame timing can also be achieved with SMTPE Time Code for ease in editing and logging. OptiTrack’s free and open SDK allows for further customization within the timing protocols.

Expert system configuration for any space.
OptiTrack has built over 30,000 tracking systems in areas of all shapes and sizes. Our experts can help guide you on the most economical and suitable tracking system for your needs—for today and the future.

It's more than just cameras. Primex cameras work hand-in-hand with OptiTrack’s Motive 3D motion capture software featuring Trained Markersets, Continuous Calibration, Skeletal Solver and more. The Primex cameras and Motive enable users to see and analyze tracking data to inform everything from robotics and movement sciences to video game animation, cinematic virtual production and location-based virtual reality.

Synchronize any Prime and PrimeX cameras

eSync 2
Enhance your integration of motion tracking data into production and measurement ecosystems. Features include external sync in/out, Genlock, SMPTE Time Code, PoE, and more. Each eSync 2 comes with removable mounting tabs and an optional universal power supply (US/EU-compatible). In the Box 1 eSync 2 1 12V universal power supply (US/EU-compatible) 2 Mounting tabs (removable) 3 BNC male to RCA female adapters 4 Rubber feet 4 Velcro straps 1 eSync 2 quick start guide Synchronize Ethernet cameras to almost any signal or source with the eSync 2. Cameras can be in sync to sources such as a professional video Genlock signal, and can also be triggered to record from general purpose inputs and software commands. Use the sync output signal or trigger with a DAQ for biomechanical force plate data alignment. Highly accurate frame timing can also be achieved with SMTPE Time Code for ease in editing and logging. One eSync 2 per motion capture system is all that is needed, and all cameras align within a very precise ~+/-5µs of the input signal. The PoE Ethernet connection allows an eSync 2 to be located almost anywhere in a lab or studio, making it easy to connect with/to source signals. With convenient output signals that can mirror most inputs, you can place the eSync 2 in the middle of an existing setup, or convert signal types for greater system flexibility. Automatically measures and reports the frequency of signals connected to its inputs. This enables fast and easy confirmation inputs have the frequency expected. Genlock sync in Genlock your OptiTrack Ethernet cameras to an external video source via SD Black Burst or HD Tri-Level analog input. All modern SD and HD sync inputs are accepted for easy integration in professional studio environments. Genlock is ideal for syncing mocap data to live action media, including on-set capture, camera tracking, reference video, and head-mounted face mocap cameras.   Compatible with common Data Aquisition I/O devices   General purpose sync in Isolated - Used when the sync source is above normal logic 3.3V, or has a different ground reference. Recommended as the default input for general purpose syncing. High Impedance - Three high-impedance digital inputs are available for sending sync signals from an external device to the eSync 2. General purpose sync out Four digital outputs are available for sending sync signals from the eSync 2 to external devices. SMPTE Time Code Stamp recorded and streamed motion tracking data with SMPTE Time Code for compositing with other media in post. Time Code support in Motive:Body includes FBX, C3D, and NatNet. Motive:Tracker support includes CSV, NatNet, and VRPN. Plug-n-play Shutter glasses support Generic 3D shutter glasses support is provided by offsetting the camera's IR Strobe. Connect video cards that support a stereo output signal to the Sync In, and a shutter glasses signal generator to the Sync Out. Use the adjustable software offset to avoid interference between the mocap camera strobes and the shutter glasses. VESA input and output connectors are provided for graphics cards and IR emitters that do not have BNC connections.
